Alleged Redding DUI Injures Two

Two people were injured during an alleged DUI that took place just outside of Redding on Monday, April 27, 2020. According to Redding Area California Highway Patrol (CHP), one person was placed under arrest at the accident scene on charges of driving under the influence. The two parties injured during the crash were both hospitalized, but were reportedly expected to recover from their injuries.

Crash Details

The crash took place at about noon on Whitmore Road. A 53-year-old man was driving a Toyota 4-Runner when, for undetermined reasons, he lost control of the pickup truck. The vehicle veered sharply before overturning inside of the road and rolling multiple times. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Response officials arriving at the crash site found that both the driver and his 29-year-old passenger had been injured. The passenger was reportedly flown to the Mercy Medical Center via helicopter to be given emergency care. The driver was placed under arrest before being released into the custody of medical responders. He was reportedly hospitalized, but transported using a ground ambulance.

Rollover Crashes

When vehicles roll, it is very likely to leave people with serious injuries. The NHTSA has reported that rollovers are responsible for a much higher percentage of fatal accidents than collisions in general. A large reason that rollovers are so serious is that car roofs are often not able to maintain integrity during a crash. If a vehicle has a poorly designed roof or is made of weak materials, the roof is liable to cave in during a rollover. This can leave passengers and drivers with very serious injuries.

The companies that manufacture vehicles are expected to guarantee the safety of the products they sell. For this reason, if a vehicle is unable to keep occupants safe, the company is often considered partially or fully at-fault for the damages caused during the crash. However, it’s important to preserve the wrecked vehicle so that your attorney can see whether or not the roof may have been an issue contributing to the severity of the crash.

Calling a Lawyer

After a car crash, survivors are often under a lot of stress. Being hurt in a crash can mean needing to go through a long and difficult process of recovery. This process can be mentally stressful as well as physically painful. On top of these things, being hurt in a crash is likely to cause a major financial burden.

In order to make sure that you are able to afford your recovery, it’s vital to reach out to a Redding personal injury lawyer with experience dealing with major accident cases. Furthermore, it is important to call a lawyer as soon as you can because at-fault parties are usually quick to begin building a legal defense.
