Alleged Redding DUI Sends One Person to The Hospital

On Thursday, March 4, 2021, an alleged Redding DUI crash sent one person to the hospital with serious injuries. The Redding Police Department (RPD) reported the collision and indicated that it involved three different passenger vehicles and happened on a local road on the east side of the city. According to police, one person has been placed under arrest on charges of driving under the influence in relation to the crash.

Crash Details

Officers stated that the accident happened at the intersection of Presidio Street and Churn Creek Road outside of St. Luke’s Anglican Church. Reportedly, a 58-year-old man was driving north on Churn Creek in a 2019 Chevy Corvette when his vehicle veered left and crossed over the median. As it entered southbound traffic, the Corvette collided with a Toyota pickup truck.

The initial collision pushed the Toyota off-course, causing it to crash into a red Ford F-150. The Corvette reportedly continued on northbound a short distance where it struck a light pole and finally came to a rest after crashing into a sign for a nearby Sportsman’s Warehouse store.  According to RPD, the airbags in the Corvette went off as it crashed.

Response to Alleged Redding DUI

Responders arriving at the site found one person who had suffered serious injuries and had them transported to a local hospital to receive treatment. Updates on their condition have not yet been provided, however reports did state that their injuries were non-visible. No other parties were injured during the incident.

Police placed the Corvette driver under arrest for DUI on-site, and he has since been booked into the Shasta County Jail. The incident remains under investigation by the RPD Traffic Unit at this time.

Accident Injuries Can Worsen Over Time

Something as jarring and dangerous as a car accident usually fills your body with adrenaline, a hormone that can block pain. While in survival situations, this allows us to protect ourselves, it also can make it hard for car accident survivors to understand the true extent of their injuries. Many people who walk away from collisions thinking they are fine end up in the hospital hours later.

Furthermore, a number of common auto accident injuries typically develop symptoms over time. Injuries that affect the spinal cord or brain may not fully develop for weeks or months and, during this period, injured individuals are liable to suffer from serious complications or incur secondary injuries.

Because of these issues, it’s critical that those who’ve been in auto accidents seek medical attention as soon as possible. Not only will this ensure that any injuries are discovered, but it also makes your case for personal injury compensation stronger.

Recovering Compensation for Accident Damages

After car accidents, injured parties can file personal injury claims against negligent groups and individuals. In many cases, payments from these claims provide survivors with the funds they need to fully cover their medical expenses, make up for lost income, repair their vehicles, and more.
