Californiaa Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that nine people suffered injuries during an alleged Fairfield DUI that took place on Saturday, December 21, 2019. According to police, the collision involved three vehicles and happened just after midnight. Responders stated that four of the nine injured people were children. Reports indicated that a 35-year-old man, a 17-year-old girl, and a 40-year-old man all suffered severe injuries and that one of them was in critical condition following the crash. Updates on the conditions of the injured parties have not been provided.

Crash Information

According to CHP, a white Toyota Corolla was driving west on the eastbound side of Highway Interstate 80 in the No. 3 lane just past the Abernathy Road junction. The Toyota eventually collided head-on with two separate vehicles. All three vehicles sustained extreme damage to their front ends.

Fairfield Fire Department responders said that they found one of the drivers at the accident scene trapped inside their vehicle and had to extricate them using special machinery. While three people were reported to have suffered severe injuries, officials did not say how many were hospitalized for treatment. According to responders, five of the injured people were from Fairfield, three were from Roseville, and one was from Suisun City.

The driver of the Toyota was placed under arrest at the accident scene. Officers arrested him on charges of driving while intoxicated resulting in injuries. An investigation into the accident is reportedly ongoing.
