Alleged Fairfield DUI Severely Injures Motorcyclist

A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries during an alleged Fairfield DUI that occurred on Wednesday, May 13, 2020. The injured individual has not been identified and medical officials have reported that he is expected to survive. The accident involved two vehicles, including an SUV and a motorcycle. Fairfield Police Department (FPD) officers reportedly placed the driver of the passenger vehicle under arrest on DUI charges related to the accident.

Crash Details

The crash happened at 4:40 p.m. on Waterman Boulevard at the intersection of Edmonton Drive on the very western edge of the city not far from Spyglass Hill Open Space. A 32-year-old man from Citrus Heights was driving an SUV along Waterman when the vehicle drifted left and crossed over the roadway median. As the SUV entered oncoming lanes, it traveled into the direct path of a motorcycle and the two vehicles collided.

Police reportedly closed down Waterman Boulevard between Oliver Road and Vista Grande for over three hours while response and preliminary investigations were underway.

Response

FPD dispatched officers and emergency personnel to the crash site right away. When responders arrived at the scene, they found the motorcyclist with severe injuries. The injured man was transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance.

The driver of the SUV was reportedly found uninjured. Police at the scene placed him under arrest on suspicion of DUI causing bodily injury as well as wrong-way driving. The driver remains in the custody of the Solano County Jail with a bail of $50,000.

Motorcyclist Injuries

Motorcyclists are usually very safe drivers and do everything that they can in order to stay safe. However, they are still likely to suffer serious trauma in the event of a crash because they aren’t protected by safety features like drivers and passengers of larger vehicles. Some of the serious injuries that motorcyclists commonly suffer as the result of auto accidents include:

These injuries can range in severity, but they are all liable to have a major impact on the lives of accident survivors and their families. Not only is recovering from a serious motorcycle accident injury painful, but it can also take a long time. Furthermore, it’s often very expensive to pay for the medical care that you need.

Getting Help

Motorcyclists injured during accidents often find themselves in a difficult situation. However, it’s possible to get help. By calling a Fairfield motorcycle accident attorney and filing a personal injury claim, it’s frequently possible for crash survivors to claim compensation for the financial and personal damages that they have suffered. To learn more about recovering after an accident, it’s always best to talk to an attorney.
