Alleged Clearlake DUI Causes Multiple Injuries

On Saturday, October 12, 2019, an alleged Clearlake DUI left six people with injuries. According to California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports, two people suffered major trauma while the remaining four individuals sustained minor injuries. Police have reported that one of the drivers involved in the collision has been placed under arrest on charges related to driving under the influence. Updates on the condition of the injured parties have not been reported, and the incident remains under investigation at this time.

Crash Details

At about 2:00 a.m., a 21-year-old man from Kelseyville was driving on State Route 29 in a 2003 Acura. CHP officials stated that the driver was traveling north at around 55 miles per hour when his vehicle suddenly veered into oncoming traffic. The car entered the path of a 2017 Acura, and the two vehicles collided head-on.

After the initial impact, the wrong-way vehicle continued traveling north and finally came to a rest on the eastern highway shoulder facing north. The 2017 Acura spun out in a counterclockwise direction, traveling south. The vehicle came to a stop facing northwest.

Response

CHP sent out an emergency response team directly after being notified about the crash. When they arrived, responders found that occupants of both vehicles had been injured. The 23-year-old driver of the 2017 Acura was reportedly found trapped inside of her vehicle and was extricated using heavy equipment. She was transported by helicopter along with one of her vehicle’s passengers to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment. The driver was reportedly determined to have suffered minor injuries while the 35-year-old passenger was left with major trauma.

A third passenger and fourth passenger in the 2017 Acura were placed on an ambulance and taken to the Sutter Lakeside Hospital. Officials stated that one of the passengers, identified as a 16-year-old boy, was severely injured while the other, a 27-year-old man, was not.

The driver of the 2003 Acura was reportedly arrested at the scene of the crash along with his 21-year-old old passenger who was placed under arrest for charges related to disorderly conduct. Both individuals received treatment at the accident scene for minor injuries and were eventually booked into the Lake County Jail.

Calling an Attorney

After a serious car accident, people usually feel very stressed out and may find it difficult to keep up with everything while dealing with their injuries. However, it’s important not to delay contacting an attorney. The sooner that you get in touch with an injury attorney, the more effectively they can ensure you receive the compensation you need to pay for medical bills, lost wages and other important damages you have suffered.
