An Albany fatal car accident on June 27 tragically claimed the life of one individual, northwest of Oakland. The collision occurred near the Buchanan Street off-ramp underneath eastbound I-580 around 3:30 a.m., involving a Hyundai and a Toyota, as well as a big rig that sustained major front-end damage. The Toyota was reportedly traveling eastbound on the Buchanan Street off-ramp at the time of the crash, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Vehicles Involved in Albany Fatal Car Accident Towed as Evidence

Emergency responders pronounced one person dead at the scene, while investigators towed both the Hyundai and an overturned Toyota for evidence. A heavy-duty tow truck was required for the big rig, which was also towed as evidence. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, with the CHP traffic collision unit leading the effort. Meanwhile, the Albany Police Department has been asked about any potential camera recordings from the Buchanan area that might provide further details.

Investigation Into Albany Fatal Accident Ongoing

A SigAlert was issued, resulting in all lanes being blocked for several hours. Drivers were advised to expect significant delays during the morning commute. The lanes were cleared and reopened at approximately 6:41 a.m., but the investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
