STOCKTON, CA — A 46-year-old man was arrested in Stockton after police said he struck a police officer while attempting to resist arrest. The incident happened in the wee hours of Sunday, Sept 6, not long after midnight of Sept. 5.

According to officers, Kiburi Dynes allegedly ran a stop sign near Sonora and Union streets, narrowly avoiding a collision with a patrol vehicle before hitting a parked car.

Police said officers detained Dynes following the crash and discovered narcotics. When they attempted to place him in handcuffs, however, authorities said he resisted and hit an officer in the face before fleeing on foot.

Officers later apprehended Dynes. The injured officer was taken to a hospital and treated for an injury that was not considered life-threatening.

Dynes faces several charges, including resisting arrest with violence, battery on an officer causing injury, reckless driving and drug-related offenses.
