MODESTO, CA – On Saturday morning, October 25, emergency crews from the Modesto Police and Fire Departments responded to a severe two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Prescott Road and Pelandale Avenue.

The call for help came in around 8 a.m., and first responders arrived quickly to find a difficult and emotional scene. One driver had been ejected from a vehicle. Before emergency personnel could reach him, compassionate bystanders were already performing CPR, doing everything they could to help.

According to a Modesto Fire Department spokesperson, those lifesaving efforts made a difference — medics were successful in reviving the injured man’s pulse before transferring him to Doctors Medical Center for continued care.

Another individual experienced minor injuries, and was also transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. At this time, authorities have not released updates on either person’s condition.

For much of the day, Prescott Road and Pelandale Ave. remained closed while the Modesto Police Department conducted a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash.

Preliminary findings indicate that a 2009 Nissan Cube was heading east on Pelandale Avenue when it collided with a 2005 Honda Accord moving northbound on Prescott Road.
