MANTECA, CA — Authorities say two people suffered serious injuries following a devastating three-vehicle crash in Manteca on Tuesday evening.
According to the Manteca Police Department, officers responded shortly after 5:30 p.m. to reports of a collision on South Union Road between Liggett Court and Marrion Street.
Investigators said a Chevrolet Corvette and a Nissan Rogue were both traveling southbound when they collided. Following the impact, the Corvette crossed into the northbound lane and crashed head-on into a Toyota Camry.
Emergency crews from Manteca Fire worked to safely remove the drivers of both the Corvette and the Camry from their heavily damaged vehicles. Both individuals were transported to nearby hospitals with serious injuries.
Police identified the driver of the Corvette as a 33-year-old Manteca man, who was alone in the vehicle. The Camry was driven by a 67-year-old Manteca woman, who was also the sole occupant of her car.
The Nissan was driven by a 49-year-old man who had one passenger with him. Thankfully, neither of them was hurt in the collision.
The roadway remained closed for several hours as emergency personnel and investigators worked at the scene before reopening after 10 p.m.
Officials continue to investigate what led to the crash. Police said they are also looking into whether impairment may have been a factor involving any of the drivers.

SALIDA, CA – A woman and a young boy were seriously injured Thursday evening after being struck by a vehicle while crossing at a Salida intersection, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred around 7:30 p.m. near Magnolia and Broadway avenues. Authorities said the pedestrians — an adult woman and a 9-year-old boy — were in a marked crosswalk when they were hit by a westbound vehicle traveling about 35 mph on Broadway Avenue.
Emergency responders transported both victims to nearby hospitals for treatment. The woman was taken to Memorial Medical Center, while the child was transported to Doctors Medical Center. Officials said their injuries were serious but are not believed to be life-threatening.
CHP investigators said the driver, an adult man, remained at the scene and cooperated fully with authorities. He was not injured in the crash, and officers determined that alcohol or drugs were not factors in the incident.
The crash remains under investigation as officials work to determine the circumstances that led to the collision.
