TRACY, CA – A man lost his life following a single-vehicle crash in Tracy on Tuesday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities said the 51-year-old was driving a Ford Mustang around 10:20 a.m. along westbound Highway 132, just west of the Chrisman Road overcrossing. For reasons that remain unclear, he lost control of the vehicle, veering left onto the shoulder made up of asphalt and dirt.
The car then continued into the grassy center median, where it overturned several times and struck both a tree stump and a tree before coming to rest on its roof east of Interstate 580.
Emergency responders from South County Fire arrived and removed the driver from the vehicle, but sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators noted that two witnesses reported the man had not been driving recklessly prior to the crash. Officials also confirmed that he was wearing a seatbelt and showed no signs of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

SANTA NELLA, CA – Two young children, ages 5 and 2, are receiving care at a hospital in Madera after being struck by a vehicle in Santa Nella, according to the CHP in Los Banos. Both remain in stable but critical condition.
Officials said the children were present on South Venus Street around 6 p.m. on Tuesday when they were hit by a 2004 Crown Victoria driven by a 36-year-old man from Gustine. Investigators believe the children had been playing in their driveway when they noticed a neighbor’s dog walking along the street. As they ran after it, they entered the roadway and were struck by the vehicle.
According to CHP, the driver left the immediate scene out of concern for his personal safety and later contacted authorities from a parking lot about a mile away. An officer reported that the children’s father had been confronting the driver following the collision.
The children were initially taken by a parent to Los Banos Memorial Hospital before being transferred to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera due to the severity of their injuries. Authorities confirmed that neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to have played a role in the incident.
