MODESTO, CA – On Saturday afternoon, a Modesto man died as the result of a three-vehicle crash near one of the city’s most heavily traveled intersections, authorities said. Officers arrived shortly after 2:20 p.m. to the crash at Standiford Avenue and Sisk Road, where they discovered the seriously injured 67-year-old driver. He was rushed to an area hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries, according to a Modesto Police Department news release.
A preliminary investigation showed that he was driving southward on Sisk Road when he collided with a pole at Standiford Avenue. He continued driving and struck another pole along with two other vehicles.
All drivers remained cooperative with the investigation. Thankfully, no other injuries were reported.
Investigators reported finding no signs of drug of alcohol use, and believe the crash may have been the result of a medical emergency. The street was closed for a number of hours as the traffic safety unit investigated.
Our hearts go out to the man’s loved ones during this agonizing time.
