Accidents December 11

TRACY, CA — Lanes on I-205 in San Joaquin County have reopened following a concrete truck overturning Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

By 4 p.m., traffic was moving again, bringing some relief to drivers who had been delayed.

Earlier in the day, the No. 2 and 3 lanes were closed while crews responded to what appeared to be a hazardous materials situation involving the overturned truck. A photo shared by CHP showed fluid spilled along the roadside, underscoring the seriousness of the scene.

The crash occurred around 8:50 a.m. on westbound I-205 near West Grant Line Road in Tracy, according to online traffic reports.

CHP explained that the incident began when a box truck collided with the back of a semi-truck. The impact caused the semi’s trailer to overturn, leading to the spill.

Unfortunately, the driver of the box truck sustained major injuries. Officials have not released additional details, but we hope the driver receives the care and support needed during recovery.

STOCKTON, CA — Authorities have shared heartbreaking news following a crash in Stockton last month, where a 1-year-old child has now passed away. The collision also took the lives of two adults who were in the same vehicle.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the child was riding in a Ford whose driver is believed to have gone through a red light. Around 4:20 p.m. on Nov. 30, the vehicle was struck on its side by an Acura at the intersection of Sanguinetti Lane and Wilson Way. The impact proved devastating: the Ford’s driver and the front-seat passenger were pronounced dead at the scene, while the young child was taken to the hospital but later succumbed to their injuries.

The individuals traveling in the Acura suffered only minor injuries, officials said.

CHP reports indicate the Ford had been heading east on Wilson Way at an undetermined speed when it entered the intersection despite the red light. At the same moment, the Acura was moving south on Sanguinetti Lane, and its front end collided with the driver’s side of the Ford.

The force of the crash pushed the Ford in a southwesterly direction, where it ultimately struck a light pole. The right-front passenger inside the Ford was thrown from the vehicle during the impact.
Investigators have not yet determined whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash.

This is a tragic reminder of how negligent or distracted driving can devastate families.

MODESTO, CA — Sadly, a 55-year-old Modesto man lost his life early Thursday morning after a head-on collision on Albers Road, just south of Dusty Lane, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officers arrived at the scene shortly after 3:30 a.m., where a 2016 Chrysler sedan and a 1999 Nissan pickup had crashed into one another. The driver of the Chrysler, 23-year-old Alberto Ochoaaguilar of Winton, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Oak Valley Hospital for treatment. Tragically, the driver of the Nissan passed away at the scene.

Early findings from investigators suggest that Ochoaaguilar had been heading south when he veered into the northbound lane, placing his vehicle directly in the path of the oncoming Nissan and leading to the violent impact.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts when the collision occurred. CHP has not yet determined whether impairment may have been involved.

Albers Road was closed for a time while officers examined the scene, though traffic delays were minimal. The investigation remains active.
