LOS BANOS, CA — A devastating head-on crash along Highway 165 on Saturday claimed the life of one driver and left four others injured.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene just before 3:30 p.m., near Cotton Gin Road, where two vehicles had collided.
Investigators say a blue 2021 Toyota Camry traveling north unexpectedly crossed into the opposite lane, striking a black 2018 Toyota Sienna. The force of the crash pushed the Camry into a nearby guardrail.
Despite the immediate efforts of first responders, the Camry’s driver tragically did not survive.
The driver of the Sienna suffered significant injuries, though they are expected to recover, and three passengers in the vehicle were treated for injuries ranging from mild to moderate.
Authorities have shared that drugs and alcohol don’t appear to have been involved in the accident.
Our thoughts are with the injured and loved ones of the driver who lost their life. It is a stark reminder of how unexpectedly an accident can happen.
