Accidents August 14, 2025

OAKDALE, CA – The California Highway Patrol has released more information about a tragic accident that took place in in Stanislaus County last week, claiming the life of a 38-year-old man from Los Banos.

The incident occurred around 11:55 a.m. on Friday, when officers were called to the intersection of Highway 4 and Milton Road near Oakdale in response to a multi-vehicle collision.

According to CHP investigators, the Los Banos man was driving a Jeep Compass northbound on Milton Road and, for reasons still under investigation, may have stopped or proceeded through the posted stop sign without yielding to oncoming traffic.

At that moment, a 2000 Ford pickup driven by a man from Hathaway Pines was traveling westbound on Highway 4, while a 67-year-old man from Brentwood was heading eastbound in a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The Jeep Compass entered the intersection and was struck by both approaching vehicles. Sadly, the impact caused fatal injuries to the driver of the Compass, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking crash.

GALT, CA – The Galt Police Department responded to a serious two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Carol Drive and Ayers Lane early Thursday morning.

The call came in around 6:25 a.m., reporting that a person had been ejected from their vehicle and that a Dodge pickup truck was overturned. When officers arrived, they found a man lying near the truck, breathing but unresponsive. He was quickly transported by the Cosumnes Fire Department to a nearby hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment for injuries that, while serious, are not considered life-threatening.

The second vehicle involved was a Toyota Prius. The driver of the Prius was evaluated at the scene and released without needing further medical care.

According to the Galt Police Department’s preliminary investigation, the Dodge pickup truck had been traveling at a high rate of speed and did not stop at the southbound stop sign at the intersection. As the Toyota Prius was turning onto northbound SR-99, the pickup entered the intersection, striking the vehicle.

The collision caused the truck to go airborne and land on its side. Authorities said the point of impact was between the front driver’s side of the truck and the front passenger side of the Prius.
At this time, police say alcohol or drugs do not appear to have played a role in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.

STOCKTON, CA – Four lives were tragically lost in the early hours of Monday, August 4, when a vehicle carrying three men and one woman veered off a rural road and into a river in San Joaquin County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred on Rindge Road, a private road located near Klein Farms. The victims, identified as friends and coworkers, had just completed a shift picking crops in the area.

CHP officials say it’s still unclear what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway, and it remains unknown at this time whether speed or alcohol played a role.

“For an undetermined reason, the driver lost control,” said Officer James Smith with CHP. “The vehicle veered to the right, traveled down the embankment, and ended up in White Slough. The vehicle became fully submerged, and unfortunately, we had four people who lost their lives.”

Access to the crash site has been restricted, as it is located on private property, and reporters were not permitted to view the area. However, a local farmworker advocate expressed concerns about the road conditions, describing the narrow, unpaved stretch as dangerous. He believes the tragedy might have been preventable had warning signs or safety measures been in place.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine what led to this heartbreaking incident.
