Accidents April 17

ESCALON, CA – A tragic two-vehicle crash south of SR-4 around 1:08 p.m., reported by the California Highway Patrol in Stockton, has left one person dead and another seriously injured.

According to authorities, a 43-year-old man from Modesto was riding a 2008 Honda motorcycle with a 41-year-old passenger along Escalon-Bellota Road when they approached a Ford pickup truck towing a livestock trailer. The truck had slowed in preparation for a left turn. Investigators say the motorcyclist did not appear to notice the slowing vehicle in time, and the motorcycle collided with the trailer. The impact caused both riders to be thrown from the bike.

The passenger suffered significant injuries and was taken to San Joaquin General Hospital for treatment. Despite emergency response efforts, the 43-year-old rider was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford pickup was not injured.

Officials have not yet determined whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, and the investigation remains ongoing.

According to the Stockton Police Department, a motorcycle and another vehicle collided near Harrison Street and Harding Way in the Civic District. When officers arrived, the male rider was found unresponsive. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later passed away.

Earlier that same morning, another tragic crash occurred in Stockton near East Main Street and South Oro Avenue around 6:34 a.m. The California Highway Patrol reported that a motorcyclist crashed into a fence. Sadly, that rider also did not survive.
