Local Roads Prone to Accidents
In a study conducted last week by ValuePenguin, Highway 99 was ranked as the most dangerous highway in the nation. However, local roads and intersections in Sacramento and its surrounding cities are encountering an increase in reported accidents.
Elk Grove & West Sacramento Accident Prone Roads
Laguna Springs Drive and Elk Grove Boulevard intersections have the highest number of accidents, with 14 reported auto collisions in 2016. Another intersection is Elk Grove-Florin Road and Calvine Road, which had 13 accidents this year. The Elk Grove Police Department conducts monthly collision reports with data indicating the vicinity of the accident but does not specify whether the accident was fatal. Authorities from the West Sacramento Police Department have also reported that West Capitol Avenue in West Sacramento has seen an increase in fatal accidents.
Stockton Accident Prone Roads
A spokesperson from the Stockton Police Department, Joseph Silva, stated that he has seen a rise in traffic accidents near Alpine Avenue and North Pershing Avenue. The intersection is in the vicinity of the University of the Pacific. Silva reported that many drivers run the stoplights and speed through the intersection, posing risks to pedestrians and other drivers on the roadway. Officers from the University of the Pacific Police Department have been assisting in controlling traffic to ensure the safety of motorists and students in the surrounding area.
