Woman Killed in Fiery Head-On Crash on Highway 108 Near Oakdale

OAKDALE, CA – Tragically, a woman was killed and a second driver suffered minor injuries Thursday night, September 10, after a deadly head-on collision on Highway 108 not far from Oakdale, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m., on the east side of Lancaster Road. CHP investigators said for reasons still being determined, a Honda sedan traveling westbound traversed over the double yellow center lines and entered the lane of a Ford pickup heading eastbound.

The two vehicles collided into each other head-on. The Honda suddenly caught fire after the impact. CHP said the Honda driver was incapable of getting out the burning vehicle and, sadly, perished at the site of the accident.

The Jamestown resident who was driving the Ford truck had only minor injuries. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Both vehicles ultimately came to a stop in Highway 108’s eastbound lanes, according to CHP.

Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances of the collision, including if alcohol or drugs may have contributed to the crash.

RIVERBANK, CA — A man was seriously injured after he was struck by a train Friday, Sept 11, in Stanislaus County, according to the sheriff’s office.

According to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office, the collision happened around 5:12 p.m. on Riverside Drive and 1st Street in Riverbank.

When first responders arrived, they found a man with serious injuries on the west side of 1^st street, near the Atchison Street overpass. The man was taken to the hospital, where he is presently in critical condition.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.
