One Killed, Another Seriously Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on Elkhorn Boulevard in Rio Linda

One person was killed and another suffered significant injuries in a two-vehicle crash on Elkhorn Boulevard in Rio Linda on Friday, August 21, 2026, according to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.

Fatal Crash Reported on Elkhorn Boulevard

The collision occurred in t Elkhorn Boulevard and involved two vehicles.

Emergency personnel from Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded to the scene and provided assistance to those involved.

One person sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Sacramento County Coroner responded following the collision.

Second Person Hospitalized With Significant Injuries

Another person involved in the crash suffered significant injuries and was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Authorities have not released the identities of either person or provided additional information regarding the hospitalized person’s condition.

At least one of the damaged vehicles was later removed from the scene by a tow truck.

CHP Investigating Cause of Rio Linda Crash

The California Highway Patrol assumed responsibility for investigating the collision, according to Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.

Officials have not disclosed what caused the two vehicles to collide. The circumstances remain under investigation, and additional information may be released as the investigation progresses.
