A motorcyclist suffered critical injuries after a suspected DUI crash on Highway 273 in Redding involving an SUV Wednesday morning, July 1, 2026, according to the Redding Police Department.
Collision Occurred Near Kenyon Road
The collision occurred around 9:40 a.m. on Highway 273, just near Kenyon Road. A 23-year-old man was traveling southbound on his motorcycle when a Lexus SUV suddenly pulled directly into his path. With no time to avoid the oncoming vehicle, the motorcyclist struck the SUV and was violently thrown from his bike.
Ambulance Crew Witnesses Crash
An ambulance crew witnessed the collision and immediately stopped to provide emergency medical care.
The injured rider was transported to a nearby hospital with critical injuries. Police said he is expected to survive.
