Accidents March 27

STOCKTON, CA – Authorities are sharing details about a tragic crash that claimed two lives in Stockton.

According to the Stockton Police Department, the incident occurred around 3 p.m. on Wednesday near Mokelumne Circle and West Eighth Mile Road. Police were called to the scene after reports of a single vehicle that had caught fire.

When first responders arrived, they found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames. After the fire was put out, two individuals were discovered inside. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary information from police indicates the vehicle had been traveling westbound on Eighth Mile Road at a high rate of speed before the crash occurred.

The roadway was closed in both directions for a time as officers conducted their investigation. Drivers were advised to take alternate routes, including Scott Creek Drive and Cosumnes Drive, to get around the closure.
