MANTECA, CA — A 17-year-old boy was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon in a heartbreaking collision involving an off-road dirt bike and a semi-truck in Manteca.
The crash happened shortly before 5 p.m. at the intersection of Main Street and Yosemite Avenue. Police say the teen was riding south on Main Street when a semi-truck turning west onto Yosemite Avenue struck him. Emergency crews rushed to the scene and worked quickly to free the young rider, who had become briefly trapped beneath the truck, before transporting him to a nearby hospital. He sustained serious injuries to his leg.
Authorities noted that the dirt bike was an off-road motorcycle not registered for use on city streets. The 27-year-old semi-truck driver was not injured. Police continue to investigate the incident as they work to understand exactly what led to the collision.

MODESTO, CA – A 34-year-old woman was seriously injured early Saturday morning after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash in south Modesto, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision was reported around 2:30 a.m. on Feb. 1 along Bystrum Road, just south of Pecos Avenue. When emergency responders arrived, they found the woman lying on the shoulder of the roadway with major injuries. No vehicles were present at the scene.
She was transported by ambulance to Doctors Medical Center for treatment. Authorities have not released details about her current condition.
Investigators think the woman was hit by a vehicle as it was moving northward on Bystrum Road as it neared Pecos Avenue. CHP said the right front portion of the vehicle struck the pedestrian before the driver fled the area in an unknown direction. Based on physical evidence, authorities suspect the vehicle may be a 2007 to 2014 Lincoln Navigator. They are asking for the public’s help in locating an SUV matching that description, which may have damage to its right front headlight or grille.

MERCED, CA – Merced CHP officials say a tragic head-on collision claimed the life of a young woman Wednesday morning in Merced County.
The crash was reported around 8:31 a.m. on Feb. 5, 2026, along Oakdale Road east of Fisher Road. When officers arrived, they found a two-vehicle collision that resulted in major injuries. Investigators said a 21-year-old Turlock woman was driving east on Oakdale Road in a Toyota Prius. Her rate of speed is unknown.
A 45-year-old man from Merced was traveling westbound in a Chevrolet Suburban at approximately 50 mph. According to eyewitness accounts and statements from those involved, the Toyota driver attempted to pass slower-moving traffic amid foggy conditions. The Suburban driver veered to the right in an effort to avoid a collision but was unable to do so. The front of the SUV struck the front of the Toyota in the westbound lane.
Good Samaritans stopped to help and performed CPR on the young woman at the scene, but despite their efforts, she later died from her injuries.
The SUV driver and three juvenile passengers suffered moderate to major injuries and were transported to Mercy Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the Suburban remained at the scene and cooperated fully with investigators. Authorities said alcohol or drugs do not appear to have played a role in the crash.
