Deadly Big Rig Collision on Highway 20 in Grass Valley

A deadly big rig collision on Highway 20 in Grass Valley claimed the lives of two truck drivers on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. The California Highway Patrol reported the incident just before 11 a.m., between Highway 49 and Rough and Ready Highway.

Officials confirmed that a Toyota Tacoma was also involved. The driver of the Tacoma sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. CHP stated that one of the big rigs crossed into the opposing lane, causing the collision. The reason for the lane crossing is currently under investigation, and the identities of the truck drivers have not been released.

The highway was closed in both directions for several hours while crews worked to clear the wreckage. CHP reopened Highway 20 around 7:30 p.m., but motorists were advised to expect delays and exercise caution near the scene.
