Accidents November 26

RIVERBANK, CA – A 72-year-old Modesto resident lost his life Sunday afternoon following a collision between his motorcycle and a pickup truck near Riverbank High School. According to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 3:25 p.m. at the intersection of Patterson Road and Snedigar Road.

Emergency crews were called to the scene shortly after the crash was reported. Firefighters arrived to find a pickup truck and a motorcycle involved and immediately checked everyone for injuries. Despite their heroic efforts, the mid-afternoon crash resulted in fatal injuries to the motorcyclist.

Authorities explained that he had been traveling south on Snedigar Road and had come to a stop at the stop sign before entering the intersection. For reasons that remain unclear, he proceeded into the roadway and into the path of a westbound Ford F-150 traveling along Patterson Road, which does not have a stop sign at that location.

The pickup driver remained at the scene and cooperated fully with investigators. At this time, officials say there is no indication that alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. The roadway was closed for several hours—until about 7 p.m.—while the Stanislaus County Major Accident Investigation Team carried out a detailed investigation.

The incident remains under review, though authorities do not expect charges to be filed against the pickup driver. Our deepest condolences go out to the motorcyclist’s loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.

LOS BANOS, CA — A driver is fortunate to be recovering from only minor injuries after their car was partially crushed beneath a tractor on November 25. The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. near Ward Road and Mason Road, where emergency crews arrived quickly and found the vehicle heavily damaged on one side. Even with the severity of the impact, officials say the driver was able to walk away and receive care at the scene.

According to the Los Banos CHP, the tractor had begun making a turn when a Dodge attempted to pass it. During that moment, the tractor tipped and landed on part of the car, causing extensive damage. Investigators are now looking closely at the roadway and other circumstances to understand exactly what contributed to the collision.

First responders assessed the driver’s condition before safely clearing the area and removing both the tractor and the damaged vehicle. No one else was hurt, and CHP has not yet shared additional information about those involved.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or may have dash-cam footage that could help is encouraged to reach out to the Los Banos CHP Office as they continue their investigation.
