Fort Bragg Head-On Collision Occurs Near Mile Marker 11.80

A Fort Bragg head-on collision on Highway 20 near mile marker 11.80 resulted in multiple injuries and a mass casualty incident response on November 9. The crash, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), reported around 11:32 a.m., involved two to three vehicles, with several occupants trapped and two patients in immediate condition. In total, seven people were reported injured. 

Two People Hospitalized Following Fort Bragg Head-On Collision

Emergency crews from local fire departments and CAL FIRE responded with extrication equipment to free trapped occupants. Two patients were transported by ground ambulance to local hospitals along the coast after an air ambulance was canceled. Additional ambulances were requested to handle the number of injured.

CHP Investigating Cause of Highway Injury Accident

CHP reported that one vehicle came to rest on its wheels, blocking the westbound lane, while a second vehicle went approximately 20 feet over an embankment and landed on its side. Tow trucks were requested to remove both vehicles. Traffic on Highway 20 was impacted while rescue and cleanup operations continued. The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
