At Least Two Injuries Reported in Del Norte County Crash on U.S. 199

A September 5th Del Norte County crash on southbound U.S. Route 199 in the afternoon left two people injured and caused both directions of traffic to be blocked southwest of Gasquet, and northeast of Crescent City. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the collision occurred around 1:14 p.m. when a Jaguar rear-ended a box truck. The impact also involved a Subaru and a Toyota Camry, the latter sustaining rear-end damage. Both the Jaguar and the Subaru required towing from the scene.

Emergency medical crews responded, treating one person for a head laceration and another for shoulder pain. They were transported for further medical evaluation. Traffic was brought to a halt in both northbound and southbound lanes while emergency personnel cleared the roadway. CHP’s traffic collision unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash.

Essential Steps After a Del Norte Auto Accident

Being hurt in a Del Norte County crash because of a negligent driver can bring unexpected challenges, including steep medical expenses, lost income, and the burden of both physical and emotional suffering. Negligence in these situations often involves dangerous behaviors like distracted driving, speeding, driving under the influence, or failing to follow traffic laws.

If another driver’s carelessness caused your injuries, it’s crucial to know your legal rights and take action to safeguard them. Get medical attention immediately, collect evidence at the scene, such as photos and contact information, and consider speaking with a personal injury attorney. An experienced lawyer can assist you through the claims process, negotiate with insurance companies, and help ensure you receive the full compensation you’re entitled to for your damages.

How Quickly Must I Get Medical Care to Protect My Claim?

To protect an injury claim after an accident, it is essential to seek medical care as soon

as possible, ideally within 72 hours, and definitely within the first week following the accident. Prompt medical attention not only ensures proper treatment and diagnosis but also provides crucial documentation linking injuries to the accident, making insurance claims and legal cases much stronger. Delays in medical care can make it harder to prove the accident caused the injuries, and insurance companies may use the delay to challenge or reduce compensation.
