On Thursday night, August 7, 2025, a pedestrian was killed after being struck by a white Dodge minivan driven by an impaired driver in Redding. According to the Redding Police Department (RPD), the incident occurred on southbound Highway 273, just north of South Bonnyview Road. The pedestrian died at the scene.

RPD reported that DUI specialist Officer Richard Key and the RPD Traffic Unit responded to investigate the crash. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence.
