MODESTO, CA — A tragic incident occurred in Modesto early Wednesday morning, where a man lost his life after being struck by a pickup truck.

According to the Modesto Police Department, the collision happened shortly before 5 a.m. near the intersection of Santa Barbara Avenue and Yosemite Blvd.

When officers arrived, they found the man lying in the roadway and immediately attempted to provide medical aid. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are withholding his identity until his family has been notified.

Initial findings suggest that a Modesto man driving a Toyota Tacoma was driving east on Yosemite Boulevard when the vehicle struck the pedestrian.

The driver stayed at the scene and is fully cooperating with the investigation, police said. Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the pedestrian who lost his life.
