OAKDALE, CA – A tragic accident claimed the life of a Modesto man late Wednesday night in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 120, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred around 10:11 p.m., just west of Valley Home Road near Oakdale. Authorities say the 48-year-old man was driving a 2024 Lexus sedan westbound when, for reasons still under investigation, his vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane. The Lexus first sideswiped a 2014 Kenworth semi-truck and trailer before colliding head-on with a 2021 Chevrolet SUV.
Emergency responders transported the injured man to Oak Valley Hospital, where he later passed away from his injuries. Our hearts go out to his loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
Two passengers in the SUV sustained minor injuries and were taken for medical care. Luckily, the SUV’s driver, a 33-year-old Oakdale man, and the 27-year-old man driving the semi-truck were not injured.
CHP confirmed that all individuals involved were wearing seatbelts. It remains unclear whether drugs or alcohol were contributing factors, and the crash is still under investigation.
We extend our sincere condolences to everyone affected by this heartbreaking incident.

TRACY, CA – A man tragically died Tuesday night in North Tracy following a solo vehicle crash and subsequent arrest on suspicion of DUI, according to a news release from the Tracy Police Department.
At approximately 11:20 p.m., officers responded to a report of a single-car accident in the 2700 block of North Holly Drive, across from North School. Upon arrival, officers found that the driver had sideswiped a parked vehicle. He appeared uninjured and declined medical attention at the scene.
As officers conducted their investigation, they suspected the man—who was not believed to be a Tracy resident—may have been driving under the influence. After speaking with him and completing a DUI evaluation, officers placed him under arrest.
While still at the scene, the man suddenly collapsed and became unresponsive due to an apparent medical emergency. Officers immediately rendered aid and called for emergency medical services. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
According to Sgt. Mike Richards, the man was cooperative throughout the encounter, and no force was used during the arrest. In keeping with department policy, a full investigation is now underway, led by the Tracy Police Department’s General Investigations Unit in collaboration with the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Authorities have stated that additional details will be shared as the investigation progresses. Our thoughts are with the man’s loved ones during this very difficult time.
