Multi-Vehicle Collision on I-5 Near Garden Highway Causes Injuries and Major Delays

A three-car collision on I-5 near Garden Highway led to major delays for Sacramento drivers early Tuesday morning, July 22, 2025. The incident happened at approximately 7:14 a.m. on southbound Interstate 5, just north of Garden Highway, and involved a white-colored Honda Accord, a white-colored Nissan Altima, and a black-colored Honda Ridgeline. The crash initially blocked the No. 3 and No. 4 lanes, severely affecting traffic flow before the vehicles were moved to the right-hand shoulder.

Paramedics quickly arrived on the scene and treated multiple injured individuals, including two women who exited their vehicles and a third person who remained inside a pickup truck. Emergency crews responded to reports of possible entrapment, though fire personnel were eventually cleared from the site as CHP officers and Tow workers worked to remove the vehicles and debris. One or more vehicles required towing. Although traffic lanes reopened shortly after 7:30 a.m., lingering congestion continued to impact the morning commute into downtown Sacramento. The full extent of the victims’ injuries has not yet been disclosed, and an investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
