TURLOCK, CA — A tragic accident claimed a life Wednesday night following a two-vehicle crash, according to the Modesto Fire Department. Emergency crews were dispatched around 11:25 p.m. to the intersection of Geer Road and Christoffersen Parkway in Turlock after receiving reports of a serious collision.
Upon arrival, first responders found two vehicles involved in the crash, with the roadway significantly obstructed. A photo shared by the fire department shows one of the vehicles—a sedan—with severe damage near what appears to be a streetlight.
Fire officials reported that one of the drivers was trapped inside their vehicle and had gone into cardiac arrest. Crews immediately began CPR while working to free the individual. Despite their efforts, and continued CPR once the driver was extricated, the person tragically passed away at the scene.
At this time, the identity of the deceased, including age and gender, has not been released out of respect for the family and pending notification.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation. Authorities have not yet established if drugs or alcohol played a role.
The other driver involved was taken to a nearby hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries. Their identity has also not been disclosed.
Our thoughts are with all those affected by this heartbreaking incident. It is a stark reminder that it takes only a momentary lapse in judgement for a serious accident to occur.

SONORA, CA – Mono Way was temporarily closed Thursday morning between Highway 108 and Tuolumne Road in East Sonora following a single-vehicle rollover accident involving a semi-truck carrying a trailer of scrap metal.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported in the crash, which was first reported to the California Highway Patrol around 8:20 a.m. At the time of the initial update around 10:30 a.m., officers were still on the scene conducting their investigation, and further details about the cause of the accident were not yet available.
The Tuolumne County Public Works Department issued a notice informing the public that the road was expected to reopen by 1 p.m. In the meantime, drivers were kindly asked to take alternate routes and to follow all posted signage and instructions from traffic control personnel to ensure everyone’s safety.
We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as crews worked to safely clear the scene and reopen the roadway.

OAKDALE, CA – A tragic crash involving three vehicles occurred late Wednesday night near Oakdale, leaving one person dead and two others with minor injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident was reported around 11:10 p.m. along Highway 120, just west of Valley Home Road. Based on the initial investigation, authorities say a Lexus was traveling westbound when it crossed into the eastbound lanes, sideswiping a trailer-truck before continuing in the wrong direction.
Shortly after, the Lexus collided head-on with a Chevrolet. The driver of the Lexus, a 48-year-old man from Modesto, was transported to the hospital, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries.
Two passengers in the Chevrolet were also taken to the hospital and are being treated for minor injuries. The 33-year-old driver of the Chevrolet and the 27-year-old driver of the trailer-truck were not hurt.
Our thoughts are with all those affected by this heartbreaking incident. The CHP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
