Car Catches Fire After Crash on Rush Creek Drive in Trinity County

A single-vehicle crash on Rush Creek Drive in Trinity County led to a vehicle fire on Monday afternoon, June 23, 2025. According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 4 p.m. as a car was driving northbound on Rush Creek Drive. For reasons still under investigation, the driver veered left across the roadway, striking a tree. The collision caused the vehicle to catch fire.

Driver Escapes Burning Vehicle with Minor Injuries

The driver was able to safely exit the vehicle before it became fully engulfed in flames. According to the California Highway Patrol, the female driver sustained suspected minor injuries and was transported to Trinity Hospital for medical evaluation. Authorities confirmed that neither drugs nor alcohol were contributing factors in the collision. Cal Fire and the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office responded promptly to contain and extinguish the fire, which had spread to nearby vegetation but was successfully controlled without causing additional damage.

Road Safety Tip: Stay Focused and Avoid Sudden Steering Movements

Single-vehicle crashes often occur due to momentary distractions or sudden overcorrection. Drivers are encouraged to stay alert, keep both hands on the wheel, and avoid abrupt lane departures. If you feel tired, distracted, or unsure of road conditions, it’s always safer to pull over and regroup than to risk a serious crash. In forested or rural areas like Trinity County, collisions can quickly escalate due to natural fire hazards.
