MODESTO, CA – Our hearts go out to the individuals injured in a devastating crash early Saturday morning in San Francisco. The collision, which occurred at 1:59 a.m. on May 17, involved two vehicles and left five people hurt — one of them with life-threatening injuries, according to California authorities.
Emergency responders arrived quickly and provided critical care before transporting the injured to nearby hospitals. Authorities have confirmed that Ryan Kwong, 28, a San Francisco police officer who was off duty at the time of the crash, was arrested at the scene. He is facing a charge of driving under the influence, causing injuries. Kwong had recently begun field training with the San Francisco Police Department.
“This incident was incredibly tragic, and my heart goes out to the injured victims,” said Police Chief Bill Scott in a statement. “We will do everything in our power to ensure justice is served in this case.”
As this situation unfolds, we hold space for all those affected and extend our deepest support to the victims and their families.

STOCKTON, CA – Our thoughts are with the individuals injured in a serious vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision that occurred Sunday afternoon in Stockton.
The Stockton Police Department responded to the scene after reports came in of a vehicle striking multiple pedestrians. According to officials, five people — ages 40, 41, 56, 62, and 67 — were injured and transported to a local hospital. Thankfully, their injuries are not considered life-threatening, and we wish each of them a full and smooth recovery.
The 62-year-old driver was found unconscious inside the vehicle when first responders arrived. Police report that Narcan was administered successfully, which likely played a critical role in stabilizing the driver.
Preliminary findings suggest that driving under the influence may have contributed to the crash. The Stockton Police Department has stated that a DUI investigation is currently underway. At this time, there is no indication that the pedestrians were intentionally targeted.
This is undoubtedly a distressing experience for everyone involved. We extend our concern to the victims and their loved ones, and we are grateful for the quick response of emergency personnel on the scene.
