Placerville Golf Cart Accident Kills One, Injures One
California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers have stated that a Placerville golf cart accident left one individual with fatal injuries on Monday, October 7, 2019. In addition to leaving one person with fatal trauma, the accident also injured a second individual who was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The decedent has been identified by local authorities as a 44-year-old man from Texas. However, his name is being withheld pending the notification of his family members. The incident reportedly remains under investigation.
Crash Details
The accident reportedly happened on the grounds of the Apple Mountains Golf Resort in Placerville. The Texas man had been driving a golf cart downhill on one of the course’s cart paths when he reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The cart reportedly veered toward a bridge, broke through a guard rail, and fell into the creek below.
Emergency staff arriving at the crash scene reported that they found the Texan man had suffered major trauma during the incident. Tragically, the man passed away on-site due to the severity of his injuries. Updates from hospital staff indicated that the injured individual, identified as a 31-year-old Sacramento man, did not suffer severe trauma and is expected to recover from his injuries.
Investigation
As officers continue their investigation into possible causes of this accident, no suspected factors have yet been reported. Crashes like this one can be caused by a variety of factors, many of which drivers cannot control. These factors can often include `defective auto products such as accelerators and/or brakes, hazards like potholes or poor roadway design, and more.
