$10,000 Reward for Suspect in Bicyclist’s Death

I’m Ed Smith, a Sacramento Bicycle Accident Lawyer. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of a woman suspected in a fatal hit-and-run accident.

2014 Bicycle Accident

The FBI is seeking the public’s help locating Adrianna Melendez of Winters, a suspect in the 2014 death of cyclist Dan Taylor. Taylor was killed on Putah Creek Road when Melendez allegedly drifted into the opposing lane and struck the cyclist at an estimated 60 miles per hour. Taylor was ejected into an adjacent orchard where he succumbed to his injuries. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the motorist’s auto also traveled into the orchard but was driven away making the accident a hit-and-run.

Federal Warrant

A warrant for the arrest of Adrianna Melendez was issued shortly after the accident in 2014 for vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run. Because they were unable to locate Melendez, FBI investigators believe that she may have fled to Mexico. A federal warrant for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution was issued this year.

The suspect is described as Hispanic, five feet and three inches tall, with brown hair and eyes, and weighing approximately 250 pounds. The FBI asks that anyone with information regarding Melendez’s location contact their local FBI office, or the nearest U.S. consulate or embassy.

Wrongful Death and Personal Injury Claims

When a person is hit by a motor vehicle, the resulting injuries are often catastrophic and can prove fatal. For survivors, recovering from their injuries is only the beginning as medical bills, lost income, and rehabilitation can leave a person with significant financial hardships. Losing a loved one in such a tragic accident can leave a family in dire circumstances. If you are injured or lose a family member in an accident, contact an experienced Sacramento injury lawyer to discuss your case and get the restitution you deserve.
