Chico Area Highway Accident Injures Woman

On Thursday, January 23, 2020, a Chico area highway accident left one person with trauma requiring hospital treatment. California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated that the collision occurred in the late morning and was a solo-vehicle crash. While the vehicle was severely damaged during the accident, responders reported that the injured woman was expected to recover from her injuries.

Crash Details

Officers reported that the accident happened at about 11:05 a.m. on Highway 32 near the junction at Meridian. A woman was driving a grey sedan westbound on the highway when her vehicle started weaving back and forth, according to reports from collision witnesses. After weaving, the sedan veered to the right, eventually entering the roadway shoulder at a speed of around 55 miles per hour. As the vehicle exited the highway, it struck a guardrail, tearing through the metal and overturning, eventually coming to a stop on the passenger side.

Responders stated that they found the woman had been injured. Initially, she declined medical attention but eventually opted to be taken to the Enloe medical center in order to receive care.

Investigation

CHP indicated that their investigators are looking into what may have caused this collision. However, no suspected factors have been mentioned by the police. Single-vehicle collisions can be caused by multiple factors and often involve things that drivers aren’t able to control. These factors can include things such as faulty car parts like steering systems or brakes, as well as hazardous roads with damaged pavement or other defects.

Rollover Collisions

According to statistics from NHTSA, rollover accidents are one of the most dangerous kinds of crashes. There are a few different factors that make these collisions so severe, but one of the main reasons is roof crush injuries. When vehicles overturn, their roofs often sustain a heavy impact. Many car roofs are not able to withstand the force of a crash and leave occupants with injuries that might have otherwise been avoided.

When this occurs, the manufacturer of the car may be considered a negligent party in the accident. If a company is found to be negligent, they can most often be held responsible for damages related to the accident. This can be done by filing a personal injury claim.

Do I Need an Attorney?

After being injured during a crash, many people are unsure of whether or not they should get help from a lawyer. It’s true that not every case is right for a lawyer. However, it is always a good idea to get advice from an experienced professional before you decide whether or not you are going to take action. Most lawyers will be happy to answer your questions about your case during a simple, free phone call. Because there’s no cost for a phone consultation, you lose nothing by reaching out for the advice you need to move forward with claiming the compensation you need for medical bills, lost wages, property damage, and other losses.
