Walnut Creek Man Severely Hurt in Napa Motorcycle Crash

On Sunday, December 6, 2020, one person sustained serious injuries as the result of a Napa motorcycle crash. California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the crash occurred in the early afternoon in a rural area of Napa County and involved a passenger vehicle as well as a motorcycle. The injured motorcyclist was flown to an area hospital for emergency care and was later identified as a 37-year-old man from Walnut Creek. Updates on his medical condition have not been made available, and the cause of this accident is currently under investigation.

Crash Information

CHP reports that the crash happened at 1:00 p.m. on Pope Canyon Road. The Walnut Creek man was driving westbound prior to the incident. At the same time, a 23-year-old woman from Davis was performing a left turn in order to exit the highway. The two vehicles collided at the intersection, causing serious damage to both.

CHP was immediately alerted to the accident and rushed response teams to the scene. Upon arriving at the location of the crash, medical personnel determined that the motorcyclist was severely hurt and called for a REACH helicopter. The individual was flown to the John Muir Hospital for care and remained there at the time of reporting.

Whether or not the vehicle driver sustained injuries during the incident has not been reported.

Investigation

As police attempt to determine the possible causes of this crash, no likely factors have been mentioned by investigators. With many motorcycle/vehicle accidents, there is more than a single cause and, frequently, collisions happen because of things that motorcyclists and drivers simply can’t control. These non-motorist crash factors include faulty auto parts, dangerous roads, and more.

Motorcyclist Injuries

Motorcyclists typically do everything they can to avoid being seriously hurt and will drive defensively, wear protective gear, and even take classes to learn how to stay safe on the road. However, they still face the risk of suffering critical injuries in accidents and are much more vulnerable than occupants of passenger vehicles.

For this reason, motorcyclists are liable to sustain injuries that have a huge impact on their lives. Recovering from these injuries may be very difficult and can take months or possibly years. In severe cases, motorcyclists may face chronic health issues like impacted mobility or cognition. While these symptoms can be managed, it often requires a lot of medical care, resulting in expensive bills.

Getting Help

Even though these issues might seem overwhelming, injured motorcyclists can reach out for help. Through working with a Napa personal injury lawyer, many are able to obtain full compensation for the economic and personal damages that they’ve suffered during accidents. This is possible through filing injury claims that seek to hold insurance companies and at-fault parties financially responsible for these losses.

However, injury claims are complicated, and each case is different. Furthermore, liable parties may try to avoid paying survivors what they are owed. For these reasons, it’s very important to make sure that you have advice from an expert attorney before you move forward with the claims process.
