Vehicle Strikes Tree near Redding, Causing Major Injuries

One person was hospitalized after a vehicle struck a tree near Redding on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. Police reports stated that the accident happened late at night and that it only involved one passenger vehicle but that three people were occupying the car at the time of the crash. Whether or not the injured individual sustained life-threatening trauma has not been reported, and investigations into the incident are active at this time.

Accident Information

The accident happened at around 11:04 p.m. on Highway Interstate 5, close to the Onramp for Gas Point Road, around two miles south of Redding. California Highway Patrol (CHP) states that a Chevrolet Equinox SUV of unreported year and color drove off the road for unknown reasons and eventually collided head-on with a tree. Witnesses who called the collision in to CHP reported that the vehicle had been traveling southbound when it veered to the left and drove over northbound lanes, eventually leaving the western edge of the highway.

Response

Police were contacted shortly after the crash, and officers arrived on-scene at around 11:16 p.m. Before their arrival, callers indicated that two people exited the vehicle and were later reported to have been trying to flag down help. Response officials at the site found the Chevrolet’s driver was still inside of the SUV and was seriously hurt. The driver was rushed to the Mercy Medical Center by ambulance so that they could be given immediate medical care. Updates on their condition have not been released by hospital officials.

Investigation

So far, police involved with the investigation of this traumatic crash haven’t indicated any suspected factors in reports. Furthermore, it’s common that solo-vehicle auto accidents happen due to multiple causes. In many cases, one or more of these causes aren’t the fault of the driver and may happen due to outside influences like defects in roads and malfunctioning SUV parts. When these types of non-driver factors cause accidents, injured parties may be able to claim compensation from parties like auto part companies and/or government agencies.

Personal Injury Damages

Suffering major injuries in an auto accident is likely to have a dramatic impact on your life. Firstly, crash survivors who suffer a severe injury typically need extensive care from medical providers, potentially leading to very large bills for services rendered. Furthermore, suffering such an injury can make it impossible to work, resulting in a sudden, temporary, or possibly even permanent loss of salary or wages.

While it’s normal to feel worried about these issues, it is often possible to claim compensation to cover your losses through personal injury claims. For this reason, it’s critical to call a local Redding personal injury lawyer after being injured in a car accident. Your attorney will be able to help you understand what you may be able to recover.
