Passenger Injured After Suspected Redding DUI

Recently, one person suffered significant injuries during an alleged Redding DUI. The accident reportedly happened late at night and involved only a single vehicle. According to the Redding Police Department (RPD), only one of the individuals involved in the collision suffered injuries, and the driver has been placed under arrest for driving a vehicle while under the influence. Additionally, medical officials have indicated that the passenger was expected to recover from their injuries.

Collision Details

The accident happened at around 11:41 p.m. on Park Marina Drive close to the South Street intersection outside of the Aqua Gold Driving Range on the Sacramento River. According to RPD, a 30-year-old man was driving a small white-colored sedan when he apparently lost control of the vehicle. The sedan drifted off-road and eventually entered a dirt embankment before striking a tree head-on. Pictures taken at the site of the crash show major damages to the front end of the car.

Response and Arrest

Responders arrived at the scene of the accident shortly after it took place and found that the passenger of the vehicle had suffered injuries and called for an ambulance. The passenger reportedly received medical care for their trauma. However, whether or not they were hospitalized was not made clear.

Police at the crash scene reportedly suspected the driver to have been under the influence and placed the man under arrest on-site. The man was subsequently booked into the Shasta County jail.

Investigation of Possible Redding DUI

Although DUI is suspected as a factor, investigations into this accident are reportedly ongoing. In many cases, crashes much like this one occur for more than one reason and may have been partially caused by things outside of the driver’s control. For instance, the vehicle may have had a malfunctioning steering system, or the roadway may have not been properly lit. In both of these cases, parties other than the driver may share responsibility for damages.

Car Accident Injuries

Auto accident injuries can be serious. Even minor injuries can worsen over time, and without proper treatment, often lead to secondary injuries or major complications. Things like spinal trauma or head injuries can develop over the course of weeks or months, so it’s always important to receive a medical screening after you’ve been hurt in an accident.

Furthermore, injuries can be costly. People who’ve been hurt in accidents often need to pay for multiple medical procedures, medications, consultations with specialists, and more. Paying for this medical care can be hard, especially for people whose injuries have made them take time off work.

Calling a Lawyer

Thankfully, all of these damages can be recovered through personal injury claims. However, every case is different and the best way to know what damages might be available in your case is to contact a personal injury lawyer as soon as you possibly can.
