Vehicle Strikes Tree, Causes Injuries During Eureka Area Crash

Eureka Area Crash Causes Trauma

On Thursday, November 19, 2020, at least one person suffered serious trauma as the result of a Eureka area crash. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the accident occurred in the small community of Freshwater, just east of Eureka and involved one passenger vehicle. The cause of the accident remains under investigation at this time.

Crash Details

Police reports indicate that the collision happened at around 10:46 p.m. on Greenwood Heights Drive near the Fernwood Lane intersection. A Dodge 3500 pickup truck was driving west on the roadway when, for unknown reasons, it traveled off-road. After exiting the road, the Dodge continued on a short distance before crashing head-on into a tree. According to reports, a full utility box of tools was knocked off the truck and spilled over the road. Additionally, the front of the truck sustained major damage during the incident.

Response

Responders were immediately dispatched to the site after CHP received a call reporting the accident. When they arrived, officials found that the driver was injured and trapped inside of their wrecked vehicle. The driver needed to be extricated from their vehicle using heavy machinery. Further information regarding the nature of the injuries sustained during this accident have not yet been reported.

Investigation

The road was closed to traffic in both directions while responders conducted emergency procedures. At the time of reporting, the road had not yet been reopened. So far, officers involved with investigating the crash have not stated whether or not there are any suspected collision factors.

Often, solo-vehicle crashes like this one occur because of more than one cause, and many common auto accident factors are things outside of the power of drivers to control. Such factors include driving cars with defective parts like brakes or steering systems as well as using roads with broken pavement.

Accident Injuries

Suffering an injury during a car crash can have far-reaching effects on your life. For many crash survivors, being hurt during a crash can mean facing months or years-long recovery process that requires a great deal of medical care. Not only is recovery often both physically and mentally taxing, but many people suffer a major financial blow. Medical costs can be high and affording quality care can be hard for those whose injuries have resulted in a reduced ability to work. Altogether, these issues can leave people worried about whether or not they’ll be able to move on with their lives.

Calling a Lawyer

For these reasons, it’s very important that crash survivors call an experienced attorney as soon as possible following their accident. A good lawyer can help you understand what damages you may be able to recover and, if you choose to pursue an injury claim, will be an invaluable part of obtaining the payments you deserve.
