Vallejo Pedestrian Crash Leaves Man Critically Injured

Vallejo Pedestrian Crash Leaves Man Critically Injured

On Sunday, October 6, 2019, a Vallejo pedestrian was involved in an auto accident that left him with critical injuries. The latest updates available indicated that the pedestrian, who has been identified as a 67-year-old Vallejo resident, was in critical condition at a local hospital. The collision reportedly involved a single vehicle and officials of the Vallejo Police Department (VPD) say that they have issued a citation to the involved driver for driving with a suspended license. The cause of the traumatic crash currently remains under investigation.

Collision Information

VPD stated that the incident happened at about 8:40 a.m. in Central Vallejo at the intersection of Nebraska and Broadway Streets. The pedestrian had been crossing Broadway Street using the intersection’s southern crosswalk while a 2001 Ford Ranger was heading eastbound toward the intersection using Nebraska Street. The Ranger attempted to make a right-hand turn in order to enter southbound lanes of Broadway Street when it collided with the pedestrian.

When response personnel reached the accident site, they found that the pedestrian had sustained critical injuries to both of his legs. The man was placed on an ambulance and rushed to a nearby hospital so that he could receive immediate medical care. In addition to issuing a citation, police reportedly impounded the driver’s vehicle.

Investigation

As VPD officers continue to investigate this accident, authorities have reported that neither speeding nor intoxication is believed to have been involved. Pedestrian collisions can be caused by a variety of factors, many of which are outside of the control of both drivers and pedestrians. These can include auto product defects like malfunctioning brake pads or steering systems, as well as dangerous roadway designs that lack proper lighting or adequate signage. In both of these cases, negligent parties may be liable to pay for the damages that survivors and their families suffer.

What Can I Recover After a Serious Crash?

Crash injuries can seriously affect people’s lives. Serious trauma usually means going through a long, difficult process of physical recovery. During this time, many people aren’t able to perform their jobs and suffer a loss of income as a result. This can be devastating to households, especially when they need to pay for medical expenses related to the recovery of their loved ones.

These issues are serious, but crash survivors and their families are often able to get help. By filing a personal injury claim, people who’ve been injured in an accident can hold negligent parties and/or insurance companies financially responsible for the damages that they have suffered. Many survivors are able to claim compensation for a large range of losses that include lost income, medical bills, emotional trauma, and more. To learn about what payments might be available to you and your family, it’s a good idea to reach out to an experienced attorney who can tell you more information based on the details of your specific case.
