Vallejo CA Auto Accident Statistics

I’m Ed Smith, a Vallejo Auto Accident Attorney. California’s Office of Traffic Safety looks at and records yearly data on car accidents in California. The agency displays their findings online for each city and county for four to six year time frames, such as 2008-2013. What do the numbers reveal about safety in your community?

What the Numbers Say – Vallejo CA Auto Accident Statistics

From 2008-2013, the city of Vallejo had between 415 and 492 auto accident victims per year that either died or were injured. 2012 was the best year on record during this time span with only 415 injured or deceased auto accident victims while 2008 was the worst, reporting 492 victims. The most recent year on record, 2013, reported 459 injured or killed in auto accidents. This is a noticeable increase from 2012, but 2012 was a great year for the city of Vallejo across the board when it came to auto accidents. 2012 had the lowest number of injured or deceased auto accident victims overall (415 victims), where alcohol was involved (36 victims), where underage drinking and driving was involved (2 victims), with pedestrians (39 victims), with bicyclists (16 victims), and total number speeding related collisions (46 collisions). 2012 also had the second lowest number of nighttime (9:00 P.M. – 2:59 A.M.) collisions (42 collisions) and DUI arrests (120 arrests).

Drunk Driving Numbers Have Gone Down

The number of drunk driving (DUI) arrests has decreased every single year, without exception, from 2008-2013. In 2008 there were 242 DUI arrests while in 2013 there were only 114. Unfortunately, 2013 was the worst year for Vallejo for the number of injured or killed when drinking was involved for drivers age 21-34, the number of injured or killed in pedestrian involved auto accidents, and for the number of accidents between the hours of 9:00 P.M. and 2:59 A.M. with 25, 48, and 50, respectively.

Vallejo Saw an Increase in Injury Accidents in 2013

In 2013, more than one person per day was either injured or killed in an auto accident in Vallejo, California. Unfortunately, no matter what the statistics say, any of us could be injured in an auto accident, or worse, because a fellow motorist fails in their duty to drive safely. If you are seriously injured in a car accident, you need an attorney who can help you recover all of your damages and restore you to your pre-accident state.
