Vacaville Pedestrian Killed in Crash

I’m Ed Smith, a Vacaville personal injury lawyer. A recent collision in Vacaville left one pedestrian with injuries that cost them their life. Authorities from the Vacaville Police Department (VPD) responded to the incident and reported that the crash took place during the early morning hours of Sunday, June 17, 2018. The pedestrian has been identified by officials, but their identity is being withheld by the Solano County Sheriff’s Office until their family is properly notified about the tragic crash. My condolences go out to those who are currently grieving over the loss of their friend and family member following this terrible accident.

Accident Information

VPD’s reports state that the accident took place at about 1:00 in the morning. A pedestrian had reportedly been taking a walk close to the intersection of Marshall and Nut Tree Roads in the area of Nelson Park. At this time, the pedestrian was struck by an oncoming vehicle. Further details about what type of vehicle was involved and the exact location of the collision have not yet been reported.

Response

VPD reported that emergency response staff were first sent out after they received a call reporting a “major injury” crash involving a pedestrian. Responders at the collision scene were not able to save the pedestrian. Sadly, the injured individual was declared officially deceased by medics on-scene.

Investigation

VPD closed Nut Tree Road from Stirling Drive to Marshall Road near St. Joseph Catholic church to conduct an investigation. The roadway was closed for several hours while officers worked to determine causal factors and workers removed debris from the road.

VPD has said that they are still actively investigating this crash. Additionally, VPD has asked that anyone with information that could possibly help officers understand what caused the accident call VPD to report what they know. Callers should use the non-emergency number (707) 449-5200 and ask for Officer Chad Hudson. The reference number for this case is 18-05009.

Pedestrian Accidents

Pedestrian accidents happen for many reasons. However, they are most often caused by drivers who are operating their vehicles recklessly. Reckless driving behaviors that frequently hurt pedestrians include driving while intoxicated, driving at high speeds, driving while distracted, and more. In these cases, injured pedestrians and/or their families or dependents are usually able to obtain money for the losses they have suffered. You can learn more about pedestrian injuries and claiming compensation by contacting an experienced pedestrian injury lawyer.
