Fair Oaks Boulevard Reported Two-Vehicle Crash in Turn Lane

A two-vehicle crash near an intersection in Fair Oaks caused minor injuries on June 27. The accident happened in the middle turn lane of Fair Oaks Boulevard and Southcliff Drive between a Toyota Corolla and Chevy, blocking the intersection. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers called medics to the scene, where it was determined that none of the injuries were serious.

Turn Lane Two-Vehicle Crash Investigated

At least one of the vehicles sustained major left front-end damage and was towed. The CHP traffic unit is conducting an investigation to find out which driver was at fault and how the accident occurred.

Intersection Accident Causes

An intersection accident accounts for more than 50 percent of all crashes. Intersection accidents are most commonly caused by the following:

  • Speeding: Drivers who speed are more likely to fail to stop at red lights or end up rear-ending another car awaiting a traffic signal to change when they are going above the speed limit.
  • Drunk driving: One of the most common causes of intersection accidents is drunk driving. It is entirely preventable if you avoid driving under the influence. The driver may make a poor decision or run a red light due to impaired judgment, slowed reflexes, and problems judging distances.
  • Distractions: Obviously, distracted drivers are not giving their full attention to the road ahead when they are texting, talking on the phone, eating, drinking or changing the radio station. Traffic lights can change as a result of these distractions, and motorists may fail to see those already passing through an intersection.
  • Fatigue: Fatigued motorists behave like drunk drivers when behind the wheel of a car. As a result, drivers can drift out of their lane or nod off behind the wheel without realizing it.
  • Roadway neglect: Due to poor design, drivers may have difficulty seeing clearly due to lack of roadway maintenance. A lack of intersection maintenance, such as untrimmed shrubs and potholes, can also contribute to accidents. The government entity charged with maintenance and design may be liable for injuries. The deadline to file is only six months, so getting assistance from an accident attorney might be advisable.
  • An intersection accident can result from defective vehicle parts, such as the engine, brakes, accelerator, or steering. The manufacturer of a defective part may be held liable for an accident caused by the defective part by filing a product liability claim. It is important to retain the vehicle after an accident in order to examine it for defects in support of a claim.

If you or a loved one is injured in an intersection accident, you can pursue compensation from the at-fault party/parties by using the services of an injury lawyer.
