Two-Vehicle Collision on U.S. 101 Causes Major Injuries

A two-vehicle collision that was reported south of Ukiah on September 23 between a Honda CR-V, a Chevy pickup and a semi pulling a trailer caused major injuries. The crash occurred along Redwood Highway near Hopland around 1:37 a.m., blocking the Russian River bridge. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident reportedly occurred because one of the vehicles blew a tire and crashed into another, causing major injuries.

Two Vehicles Crashing Into Semi Cause Major Injuries

The reporting person in the semi parked on the right-hand side said the two vehicles crashed into his trailer. Both the Honda and the pickup sustained major damage in the accident. The truck had to be pulled away from the bridge so firefighters could extricate its occupants.

Injured Transported to Hospital for Treatment of Major Trauma

The injured were transported to Adventist Health Ukiah Valley for treatment. The roadway was reopened at 4:18 a.m. A determination of the cause of the accident and fault is being handled by the CHP traffic crash unit.

Auto Defects and Product Liability Lawsuits

Sometimes, when a tire blows out and causes major injuries in an accident, it may be caused by a product defect, which causes tire separation. Keeping the vehicle intact is important, so engineers can check it. If it is found that the tire or other auto part was defective, which led to the accident. Those who were injured can file an auto product liability claim against the designer, manufacturer or others in the production line. An accident attorney can handle this type of claim for you and negotiate to obtain the best outcome. Unlike others, negligence does not have to be proved in a product liability claim. The only things that are necessary are to show the product/part was used as intended and that it remained unaltered.

Personal Injury Claims and the Recovery of Compensation

If someone suffers major injuries in an accident and someone else is at fault, they may place a claim to recover damages for their losses. Compensation recovery may include the following:

  • The medical expenses that accrue because of your injury are recoverable, from hospitalization and ambulance fees to surgeries, doctors’ bills and physical therapy.
  • Wages you lost from the inability to work can be compensated, which includes insurance and pension benefits and others. If you can’t perform your previous job afterward and are demoted in salary, the difference in wages is recoverable. If you become permanently disabled, you can recover your wages until retirement age.
  • Compensation is recoverable for both your physical and emotional pain and suffering. The amount depends on the extent of your injury and hospitalization for physical pain. Many suffer emotional trauma as a result of post-traumatic stress disorder.
