Two Injured, One Dead After Lake County Collision

Two Injured, One Killed in Lake County Collision

One person lost their life, and two more suffered injuries during a Lake County collision on Saturday, November 30, 2019. The decedent has since been identified by Lake County Sheriff’s Office authorities as Kenneth Kub Xiong, a 19-year-old man from the city of Stockton. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), this accident involved two vehicles and took place during the afternoon on a local roadway. Reports indicated that both injured individuals suffered severe injuries. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Collision Details

CHP stated that the crash happened at about 1:20 p.m. on Highway 20 close to Walker Ridge Road. Xiong had been driving a 1996 Honda Civic westbound on the highway while a 65-year-old Elk Grove woman was driving east in a 2015 Toyota Tacoma in the number 2 lane. For reasons that remain under investigation, the Civic traveled over the highway median and the two vehicles collided in eastbound lanes. Both vehicles came to a stop on the highway, blocking all lanes.

Response

The highway remained shut down to traffic while firefighters and CHP officers responded to the scene. The Toyota driver and her 75-year-old passenger were found with major injuries and were rushed to the Adventist Health hospital for immediate attention. According to police reports, Xiong tragically passed away at the accident location.

Investigation

As police continue to investigate this accident, reports have stated that speed and wet roadway conditions may have been causal factors. However, a full report of causal factors has not been released. CHP also indicated that all parties involved in the collision had been wearing seatbelts when the crash took place.

Investigating an accident can be complicated, especially when one or more of the involved parties is unable to offer testimony about the crash. Because of this, investigators are liable to overlook key factors, including defective car parts or dangerous roads. To make sure that the accident is fully investigated, it’s important to reach out to an experienced car accident lawyer who can look into things with your right to compensation in mind.

Calling an Attorney

Car accidents can be very difficult for families to deal with. Paying for expenses related to the accident while suffering a loss of income and dealing with emotional stress all at the same time can feel overwhelming. Fortunately, those who’ve suffered car accident damages can often claim compensation from insurance companies as well as auto product manufacturers, government bodies responsible for roadway maintenance, and other negligent parties. However, these cases can be complicated and vary depending on the circumstances of the accident. For this reason, it is very important to contact a compassionate, experienced lawyer who can help you know how to move forward with your case. Attorneys are typically happy to offer free advice during a phone consultation, so there’s nothing to lose by getting the information you and your family need.
