Can You Get Compensation from a Sanger Car Accident?

A car accident, no matter how minor or severe, may result in some of the most catastrophic injuries on the spectrum. When a person is injured in a car wreck caused by another driver, they may be able to recover compensation through a personal injury claim. These types of cases take into account the economic and noneconomic damages suffered by an injured person, such as:

  • Past and future medical expenses, for reasonable and necessary medical treatment and mileage to and from medical appointments
  • Past and future wage loss, including the loss of projected earnings and potential promotions or raises
  • Past and future pain and suffering, which are often challenging to quantify as people cope with mental anguish and emotional distress differently after an accident injury
  • Loss of consortium, for damage to a marital relationship caused by a personal injury
  • Out of pocket expenses, such as home renovations and medical devices like a wheelchair to accommodate a permanent injury or disability

There are specific factors that may affect the value of a personal injury claim. To learn what these are, watch the video below.

What Happens if the Other Driver Has No Insurance?

One of the questions you may be asking yourself after a car accident is whether there is insurance to cover your losses. In cases where the driver responsible for the crash has little to no liability insurance, you may be able to seek recourse through your own policy. This is possible if you have uninsured/underinsured motorist protection. Uninsured motorist coverage comes into play when it has been determined through an SR 19-C DMV form that the other motorist does not have bodily injury coverage. Underinsured motorist coverage may be available when damages exceed the at-fault party’s insurance policy limits. If you have Medical Payments Coverage (Med-Pay), you may also use this to have your medical expenses covered as they incur.

Should I Contact an Attorney After a Car Accident?

Insurance companies, even your own, want to settle personal injury cases for as little as possible. This is because they are focused on their bottom line and will use any defense tactic to protect it, including making lowball offers as an attempt to diminish the value of a claim. In situations like these, it is best to consult with an experienced Fresno personal injury lawyer before speaking to the insurance company. An attorney will ensure your right to fair compensation will be protected as you recover from your injuries.
