Six Big-Rigs Involved in Highway 80 Accident

California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that six big-rigs were involved in a chain-reaction accident that took place on Highway 80 to the west of the city of Truckee in Placer County. The crash reportedly left at least one individual with major trauma requiring treatment at a hospital. However, further details about the severity of the crash have not been reported. The collision remains under investigation.

Crash Details

According to CHP traffic reports, the crash happened at around 11:30 a.m. near the small community of Emigrant Gap. CHP indicated that a “chain reaction of truck collisions” occurred after an initial crash involving only one big-rig. Police also noted that the crash was caused in part by wet roads.

Response

Multiple agencies responded to the major accident, including CHP as well as Cal Fire, and the Placer County Sheriff’s Office. Firefighters confirmed that at least one of the big-rigs had overturned, trapping its occupants inside. Further reports indicated that “several people” had become trapped inside wrecked vehicles. Officials reported that one of the trapped individuals had been extricated by 12:45 p.m.

All lanes of the highway were shut down while accident response took place. Traffic was diverted near Baxter for a total of just over six hours.

Trucking Collisions

Trucks are massive vehicles that operate in all sorts of conditions. For these reasons, they are often involved in very serious accidents. The companies that own these trucks are well aware of these risks and are usually ready to take action in order to defend themselves if a collision occurs. In many cases, the company will send out a legal response team to the accident site itself so that they can gather their own evidence and witness statements.

Because trucking companies are so proactive about disclaiming financial liability, it’s very important to act quickly. Reaching out to a lawyer as soon as you can means that your attorney can begin defending your right to compensation right away and can make a critical difference in your case.

Rollover Collisions

In many cases, rollover collisions are especially dangerous because the vehicle roof isn’t able to withstand an impact. Because auto manufacturers are expected to ensure that their products are safe, these companies are often considered at-fault when vehicle occupants suffer roof-crush injuries.

Personal Injury Damages

The injuries that people suffer during vehicle accidents can be life-changing. Not only is medical care very expensive, but being injured can also make it difficult or even impossible for you to work. All of this can be very stressful, and many crash survivors are worried about how they will be able to recover personally and physically.

Fortunately, survivors are able to reach out for help from personal injury attorneys in order to file claims against negligent parties and obtain compensation for their losses. The damages that can be claimed in an injury case are varied and depend on your specific circumstances. For this reason, it’s important to get advice from an expert Truckee personal injury lawyer before taking any legal action.
