Single Vehicle Involved in Interstate 80 Major Injury Accident

A major injury accident occurred in Truckee on May 4 when a vehicle carrying seven people flipped onto the side of the roadway. The accident happened along westbound I-80 just east of the Hirschdale Road off-ramp around 2:36 p.m. No other vehicles were involved.

Fire Officials Discover at Least One Party With Major Injuries

California Highway Patrol officers arrived at the accident scene to find that it appeared all of the parties were out of the vehicle. However, when medics with Cal Fire arrived, they reported a possible ejection during the rollover. One party was found unconscious but breathing.

Patient Transported to Hospital After Injury Accident

The patient was transported to a hospital with significant injuries. CHP Traffic accident investigators are determining what happened to cause the crash.

How a Major Injury Accident Can Result From a Rollover

Rollover accidents have the potential to cause some of the most catastrophic injuries. This is because when a vehicle rolls over, it can crush or trap occupants inside, leading to serious injury and even death. Additionally, rollovers often result in objects being thrown around the cabin, causing blunt-force trauma that could be fatal.

Other major injuries resulting from rollover accidents involve severe head and neck trauma, fractures and spinal cord injuries. In some cases, those involved in a rollover accident may suffer from other physical injuries, such as lacerations or puncture wounds due to broken glass or metal objects thrown in the vehicle.

Furthermore, those who experience a rollover accident can suffer from psychological trauma from the horrific experience. This can include post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues that may require long-term treatment and therapy.

Causes of a Major Injury Accident

In some cases, in a single-vehicle crash, the driver made an error or was negligent. In these cases, passengers in the vehicle may hold the driver financially responsible by filing a personal injury claim.

Government Negligence in Roadway Maintenance

In other cases, government neglect of the roadway may be liable. This happens when the road has potholes, debris, poor lighting, and a number of other factors. An accident attorney can determine whether roadway conditions caused or added to your injuries. A claim can be filed against the government entity if it was negligent. However, with a six-month statute of limitations in which you can file, getting the assistance of an injury lawyer can be recommended.

Defective Auto Parts

When brakes suddenly fail, the accelerator sticks or other mechanical problems occur, the driver may lose control of the vehicle and crash. Although the percentage of these accidents is small, you should still keep the vehicle, so it can be examined for defects. When a defect is found that caused your accident, you can file an auto product liability lawsuit against the maker of the part, the manufacturer, and others.
