Santa Rosa Man Killed in Fairfield Accident
A serious car accident in Fairfield on Tuesday, March 19, left one person with injuries that ultimately cost him his life. Authorities have not yet identified the fatally injured individual. However, officials did say he was a 62-year-old man from Santa Rosa. According to reports, two other individuals also sustained injuries, one of whom was left with severe trauma due to the accident. I’d like to extend my sympathy to the deceased’s loved ones during this time of grieving.
Crash Details
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), this collision happened at about 12:45 a.m. at the intersection of Beck Avenue and Highway 12 on the western side of the city of Fairfield. The accident involved two vehicles. Officers said the vehicles were an SUV and a small sedan. Details about how the vehicles collided have not yet been made available.
Response
Responders were sent to the collision scene right after the CHP received a call notifying them that people may have been seriously injured during a crash. When emergency officials arrived, they found that three people had suffered injuries. The injured occupant of the sedan sustained life-threatening trauma and medics had him rushed to a nearby hospital via ambulance. Tragically, he passed away soon after arriving at the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center on the eastern side of Vacaville.
The driver of the SUV was also found with severe injuries and transported to a hospital. Officers did not report the severity of the SUV passenger’s injuries. Updates on the condition of both SUV occupants remain unavailable.
Investigation
Investigators say that they are looking into various factors that may have played a part in causing this tragic accident. CHP suggested that the collision may have been caused by driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Investigators are attempting to determine whether or not impaired driving was involved. Other factors that frequently cause fatal accidents include driving while using a cell phone, medical issues, speeding, and more.
