Delayed Symptoms After a Traffic Accident

Delayed symptoms after a traffic accident can be serious and should not be ignored. It is important that individuals involved in an auto accident get medical attention as soon as possible, even if they don’t feel any immediate pain or discomfort. Symptoms such as headaches, dizziness or blurry vision may take several hours to days to manifest and can often be a sign of more serious injuries.

Being Aware of the Symptoms After an Intersection Crash

If you’ve been in a traffic accident, it is important to be aware of the signs and symptoms of delayed injuries. Common signs include headaches or neck pain, lower back pain and numbness in the arms or legs, memory loss or confusion, difficulty sleeping, irritability or depression, chest pain, and nausea or vomiting. If any of these symptoms occur after an accident, it is important to seek medical assessment immediately. By getting prompt medical attention and following the advice given by your physician, you can reduce the risk of long-term health problems associated with delayed injuries from a traffic accident.

Help in Recovering Compensation After an Accident

After suffering injuries in a two-vehicle accident, a car accident lawyer can help you obtain compensation. After investigating the accident, your lawyer determines which evidence will support your claim and then develops a strong case for negotiation with the insurer or litigation with the court, if necessary. The following types of damages are recoverable:

  • From hospitalization and ambulance fees to doctor’s bills and rehabilitation, medical expenses incurred by the accident can be reclaimed. Costs of ongoing injuries are calculated into the settlement if they exist.
  • The injured party may claim the lost wages resulting from their incapacity to work. As part of the compensation package, they can receive any regular bonuses, tips and other perks of the job, such as insurance and pension benefits. The need to take a lower-paying job is also taken into account if the injured party cannot return to work, and the difference in pay is recovered. In addition, if the injured person becomes permanently disabled and cannot work, their wages and other perks of the job are calculated into the settlement until they reach retirement age.
  • There is a possibility of recovering damages for pain and suffering suffered by the injured person. Psychological and emotional pain are included in this category.
